When your spouse deploys, the to-do list doesn’t shrink. It grows. Somebody has to keep the house running, handle the kids’ schedules, and still make sense of a garage that’s suddenly full of seabags, gear and boxes nobody has time to sort.
Storage can take a real load off. Not because you need to stash your whole life, but because clearing out a few things makes everything else easier.
Start with what you won’t touch for six to nine months. Your spouse’s off-duty gear, a second vehicle’s worth of tools, hobby equipment, seasonal decorations, extra furniture that’s just taking up room. If you’re downsizing to save on rent during the deployment, this is the pile that decides your unit size.
For a handful of boxes and a few bins, a 5×6 at $75 a month does the job. If you’re moving out of a one- or two-bedroom and need to hold furniture, a 10×10 at $165 a month is the one most families pick. And if you’re clearing out a full house, a 10×20 at $257 a month gives you the space to do it right. Current numbers are always on our rates page.
Military, first responders and government employees get 10% off here. Ask for it when you sign up. We also take the first month for $1 and lock your rate for 12 months, so you won’t see surprise increases halfway through a deployment.
That month-to-month part matters. Deployment dates move. Sometimes they stretch, sometimes they shrink. You’re not signing a long contract, so you can keep the unit as long as you need it and close it out when everyone’s home.
We’re about five miles from the Camp Pendleton back gate, so it’s an easy run from base. Plenty of families come to us from Oceanside and Carlsbad, and we also see people from San Marcos and Escondido who’d rather skip the higher prices closer to the coast.
All 403 of our units are ground-level drive-up. Back right up to the door and load straight in. If you’re doing this solo with kids in the car, you’ll appreciate not having to wrestle a cart through a building. The gate is open 6AM to 7PM every day.
A few things make the whole process smoother. Label every box with what’s inside and which room it came from. Take a quick photo of how you stacked everything. Keep a short list of what’s in the unit somewhere you’ll find it. And if someone else might need to get into the unit while your spouse is away, give the office a call beforehand so there are no surprises at the gate. You can also reach us through our contact page.
We’ve been family-owned for about 40 years, and we’re the cheapest storage in North County San Diego. No corporate parent. When you call, someone local picks up and actually knows the answer.
More local storage guides are on our blog.
