Orders drop and the clock starts. Somewhere between the housing walk-through, the vehicle shipment, and figuring out what the movers will and won’t take, there’s a pile of stuff in the garage that doesn’t have a plan yet.
We see it every spring and summer, and honestly a fair amount of it in September too. We’re about five miles from Pendleton’s back gate, so military families have been a big chunk of who we serve for as long as we’ve been open.
A few things worth knowing before you sign anything anywhere.
Everything here is month-to-month. No lease, no term commitment. If the movers show up early and you’re out in three weeks, you’re out in three weeks. That matters more than people realize, because orders change and dates slide and you don’t want to be paying for a unit in California while you’re settling into Lejeune.
All 403 of our units are ground-level drive-up. Back the truck to the door and load. If you’re doing a PPM and racking up weight tickets, that’s a lot less time burned than a facility where you’re pushing a cart to an elevator.
The military discount is 10%, and it applies to first responders and government employees too. Seniors get 5%. Your rate is locked for twelve months, so if you leave a unit here through a deployment or a school, you’re not getting a rent increase letter in month five.
On sizing — most families we help end up in a 10×10 at $165 a month, which holds roughly a one-bedroom’s worth of furniture plus boxes. A 10×20 at $257 is closer to a full two-car garage and handles a house plus a motorcycle or a stack of gear. If you’re just parking a few footlockers, a rack, and some seasonal stuff during a deployment, a 5×6 at $75 does the job. Call the office and we can usually eyeball it for you over the phone — we’ve done this math with a lot of Marines. Full pricing is on our rates page.
One piece of practical advice. Whatever you store, leave yourself a written list and take photos of the boxes before the door comes down. Six months into a deployment nobody remembers which box the tax paperwork went into.
Your Rate Is Locked for 12 Months
The big chains love the bait-and-switch. They advertise a great online rate, get you moved in, then quietly raise your rent a few months later — knowing most people won’t bother moving their stuff out.
At Sentry, what you sign is what you pay. Your rate is locked for a full 12 months. No exceptions.
All Drive-Up, Ground-Level Units
Every unit at Sentry Self Storage is a drive-up unit. Pull your car, truck, or trailer right up to your door. No elevators, no hallways, no hassle.
When you see cheaper rates from the big chains online, check the fine print. Those rates are usually for interior units on an upper floor — not drive-up. Our rates are apples-to-apples for the same type of access.
